CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College volleyball team swept a pair of matches at Grove Gymnasium on Tuesday. The Warriors (6-9) defeated Rust College (4-8) 25-9, 25-22, 25-12 in the opener, and finished with a 25-16, 25-11, 25-16 victory over Central Baptist (5-10).

In the opener, Hendrix hit .348 with 36 kills, a season-high 14 aces, 18 digs and nine blocks. The Lady Bearcats hit -.140 with 11 kills, five aces, 16 digs and two blocks.

Freshman libero Jill Sikes led the serving attack with seven aces to go with five digs. Senior middle blocker Melissa Clement had 11 kills and hit .533 with five blocks. Junior outside hitter Katie Burchfield connected on eight kills and three aces. Senior Kristen Finch added seven kills and three blocks and freshman Catey May had four kills and a season-best four blocks.

Against the Lady Mustangs, Hendrix hit .347 with 45 kills, 10 aces, 46 digs and a season-high 9.5 blocks. CBC hit .082 with 23 kills, two aces, 37 digs and four blocks.

Clement once again paced the offense with 13 kills and had five blocks. Finch hit .350 with eight kills and two blocks. Burchfield added eight kills and nine digs and senior Katie Bates had six kills and three blocks. Defensively Sikes led all players with 11 digs and sophomore Ella Concavage-Nasar had 10.

CBC was led by Alexandra Simpson with seven kills and eight digs.

Hendrix will host SAA rival Centre College and Austin College on Saturday.
