CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College field hockey team defeated the Sewanee - the University of the South 3-1 on Saturday at Warrior Field. With the win, the Warriors move to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Southern Athletic Association, while the Tigers fall to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Senior defender Maggie DesPain paced the Warriors with the game-winning goal and an assist. The St. Louis, Mo. native dished out an assist to sophomore Lotte Kraaijenbrink in the fourth minute to start the scoring for the Hendrix. DesPain then added a goal of her own in the 33rd minute off of a penalty corner. Sophomore forward Erika Jasso scored with an unassisted goal on a fastbreak in the 41st minute.

Molly Kennedy scored the lone goal for Sewanee off an assist from Tilden Davis. Tiger goalkeeper Anna Morrow had six saves in the losing effort.

For the match, the Warriors outshot the Tigers 11-10 and had a 10-1 on goal advantage.

Hendrix will return to action on Sunday when they host Lindenwood University at 12 p.m.
