Miscues Cost Hendrix at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA – The Hendrix College men's basketball team turned the ball over a season-high 25 times, leading to 27 points, as the Warriors (5-8, 0-2) lost to Oglethorpe University (10-3, 2-0) in Southern Athletic Association action at Dorough Field House on Friday night. The Warriors, who only dressed eight players due to the flu, could not counter the Stormy Petrels depth, losing the bench battle 38-4.

OU turned a 31-21 halftime lead into as much as a 35-point advantage late in the second half.

Hendrix shot 38 percent (19-of-50) from the field, and went 4-of-15 from three-point territory and 13-of-25 at the free throw line. Oglethorpe shot 50 percent (34-of-68) overall, 9-of-25 from outside and 9-of-21 at the stripe. The Warriors had a 40-34 rebound advantage, but the Petrels racked up 17 steals, compared to just five for Hendrix.

Junior forward Colton Primm lead the Warriors with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting to go with eight rebounds, three assists and block. Sophomore forward Luke Vance scored 14 points and pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds. Senior guard Jaren Riley added 11 points, three assists and three steals and freshman guard Drew Nikolovski chipped in nine points.

Five players hit double-digit scoring for the Stormy Petrels. Alex Davis and Tyler Courson each had 14 points and five rebounds. Christian Molinet had 12 points, six assists and six steals and Sam Purdy and Jordan Kinney each scored 11.

Hendrix will continue their league schedule at Berry College on Sunday afternoon.
