MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - After winning three consecutive Southern Athletic Association matches, the Hendrix volleyball team's streak came to end at the hands of Berry College on Saturday afternoon. The first-place Vikings (17-5, 10-1) took the match from the Warriors (14-10, 5-6) 25-16, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20.
For the match, Hendrix outhit Berry .346 to .241, but the Vikings had a 62-46 kills advantage. Both teams recorded five aces and five blocks, but BC led in digs 68-44.
Senior outside hitter
Katie Burchfield paced Hendrix with nine kills to go with two aces and 15 digs. Freshman middle blocker
Grace Griffin connected on a season-best eight kills and freshman outside
MC Rogers had nine. Freshman right side
Natalie Masten and freshman middle Samantha Scokdale both had six kills and junior
Carson Hunter recorded five. Freshman setter
Allison Gaia assisted 19 points and senior
Zoe Calhoun had 17 assists. Sophomore libero
Felicia Beeman led the defense with 17 digs.
Kelsey Lochstampfor led the Vikings with 18 kills. Anna Keappler had 13 and Katie O'Rourke had 12 kills. Emily Stromberg recorded 11 kills and 16 digs. Setter Stephanie Quinn had 14 digs and 56 assists and Katie Truluck dug 13 balls.
Hendrix will travel to Atlanta to face Oglethorpe University on Sunday.
