CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team lost to Centre College 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21 at Grove Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The loss puts the Warriors at 15-11 overall and 6-7 in Southern Athletic Association play. With one match left, Hendrix is in a three-way tie for fourth place and the fourth seed at the SAA Tournament in two weeks. HC is tied with Millsaps and Rhodes, and a half game behind Birmingham-Southern for the third seed. The Warriors currently hold the tiebreaker over BSC and Rhodes, but is one set behind Millsaps.

Centre improves to 19-4 overall and 11-2 in SAA play and will be the second seed at the SAA Tournament, hosted by first-place Berry.

For the match, the Warriors hit .078 with 45 kills, eight aces, 61 digs and nine blocks. The Colonels hit .216 with 51 kills, four aces, 67 digs and 11 blocks.

Freshman outside hitter MC Rogers recorded 14 kills and six blocks for Hendrix. Freshman middle blocker Grace Griffin had a season-best nine kills and senior outside Katie Burchfield came up with seven kills and nine digs. Freshman middle Samantha Stockdale also had six blocks. Freshman setter Allison Gaia recorded 18 assists and three aces and senior Zoe Calhoun assisted 13 kills. On defense, sophomore libero Felicia Beeman had 15 digs and junior Ella Concavage-Nasar had 10.

Catherine Janszen led Centre with 15 kills. Suzanne Asbury recorded nine kills, seven digs and seven blocks. Kary Stivers had 21 assists and nine digs and Paige Poggemeier came up with 20 digs.

Hendrix will play their final conference match of the season on Sunday against Sewanee - The University of South at noon.
