Pioneers Down Warriors

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Hendrix College field hockey team lost 3-1 on the road at Transylvania University in Southern Athletic Association play on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers (5-9, 2-4) got on the board with a Faye Katz goal in the 41st minute. Sara Clark added another goal in the 52nd minute and Kayla Thurlow made the game 3-0 with an assist from Shelby Perkins in the 61st.

The Warriors (0-8, 0-6) scored in the 65th minute when junior forward Erika Jasso found the back of the cage on an assist from junior Lauren Shklanko.

TU outshot Hendrix 19-11 overall and 15-6 on goal. Freshman keeper Gabryele Pochron came up with seven saves. Senior Jennifer Koller had a school record three defensive saves, while senior Lindsay Chott and sophomore Debbie Crawford had one ach.

Pochron tied Alyssa Havens' single-season school record with 175 saves on the year. The Warriors also broke the team records with 201 saves and 16 defensive saves on the year.

Hendrix will be off until Oct. 17 when they face Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.
