TYLER, Texas - The Hendrix College men's basketball team held off a late comeback by the University of Texas at Tyler to win 71-63 at the Herrington Patriot Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (3-1) never trailed in the game and took a 36-20 lead into halftime. With Hendrix up 61-50 with 3:00 to play, the Patriots (1-1) cut the deficit to 62-57 at the 1:18 mark on a three-point play, a pair of free throws and a jump shot by Tre Potter. The Warriors pushed the lead back to 10 with sophomore guard

Alec Conard making one. A three-pointer by UTT's Byron Randle made the game 69-63 with 21 seconds remaining, but Aldous sank a pair of shots at the line to give Hendrix the eight-point edge.
Senior forward
Colton Primm tied his career-high with 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Warriors. Aldous scored 13 points, going 7-of-10 at the free throw line, to go with nine boards, three assists and two steals. Conard made four three-pointers en route to 15 points and junior forward
Luke Vance scored nine points and had six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sophomore guard
Drew Nikolovski added eight points. Sophomore point guard
Jordan Taulton dished out a career-best eight assists and did not commit a turnover in 24 minutes of play.
Randle led the Patriots with 15 points off the bench. Bryce Kemp had 13 points.
For the game, the Warriors shot 52 percent (25-of-48) from the field, 6-of-11 from outside and 15-of-29 at the line. UTT shot 32 percent (21-of-65), 3-of-15 from outside and 18-of-21 at the free throw line. Hendrix held a 37-36 edge in rebounds.
Hendrix will travel to Clarksville, Ark. on Tuesday to face the University of the Ozarks.
