Warriors Fall in Overtime on Senior Day

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College field hockey team lost to Sewanee - The University of the South 4-3 in overtime in the Southern Athletic Association and regular season finale at Warrior Field Sunday.

The game was the last at home in the careers of three Warrior seniors - Lindsay Chott, Jennifer Koller and Elizabeth Lancaster.

The visiting Tigers (8-7, 3-5) built a 2-0 lead when Maggie Boozer scored on a Tilden Davis assist in the 27th and 32nd minutes. Just after halftime, the Warriors (0-13, 0-8) got on the board when freshman forward Raychl Reger scored on a pass from junior Erika Jasso in the 39th minute to cut the lead to 2-1.

Boozer scored her third goal of the game on a penalty stroke in the 53rd minute. Freshman Emily Rankin cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 65th minute on a fastbreak goal.

Hendrix sent the game into overtime on their second penalty corner with no time left in regulation. Reger found the back of the cage with an assist from junior Morgan Fires to force the extra period.

Taking advantage of 8-1 count in penalty corners in overtime, Sewanee's Karen Dawson scored in the 83rd minute with an assist from Mary Kate McAlister.

For the game, Sewanee outshot Hendrix 41-11 and had a 24-7 advantage on goal. The Tigers also led in corners 25-9.

Freshman keeper Gabryele Pochron, the nation's leader in saves, recorded 18 stops for the Warriors. Koller, who ranks fourth in the country in defensive saves, had two. Gabrielle Fignar recorded four saves for the Tigers.

Hendrix will open the SAA Tournament in Danville, Ky. on Friday as the fifth seed and will face #4 Transylvania at 7 p.m. ET.
