CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team opened the La Quinta Inn & Suites Holiday Classic with a 66-57 win over East Texas Baptist University at Grove Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers (2-5) took a 31-29 lead into halftime, but the Warriors (4-6), who were sparked by a big a second half from senior forward Katie Coughran with 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals in the period, opened the half with a 16-4 run over the first six minutes, taking control of the game.

ETBU cut the lead to 62-57 with 1:09 left, but Coughran and sophomore guard Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler hit a pair of free throws each in the fnal minute to seal the win.

For the game, Hendrix shot 36 percent (23-of-64), went 4-of-18 from three-point range and 16-of-22 at the free throw line. ETBU shot 30 percent (19-of-64), 4-of-18 from outside and 15-of-24 at the stripe. The Warriors held a big 53-41 edge in rebounds with three players reaching double-digit boards.

Coughran recorded her first double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Kriesel-Bigler led all players with 18 points and dished out seven assists. Freshman guard Taylor Neal added 16 points, five boards and three assists. Senior center Jamie Tate grabbed 14 rebounds and freshman forward Anna King came off the bench for six points and 11 boards. Freshman guard Peyton Hurst had five points and four steals.

Jasmine Davis led the Lady Tigers with 15 points - on 7-of-12 shooting - nine rebounds and five blocks. April Leonard and Kayla Morgan each had nine points and three steals.

Hendrix will wrap up the Classic against Schreiner University on Monday at 3 p.m.
