Box Score

CONWAY, Ark. – The Hendrix College men's basketball team erased a four-point deficit in the final 34.2 seconds to defeat Centre College 59-58 at Grove Gymnasium on Friday.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 8-16 overall and 3-10 in Southern Athletic Association play and are tied with Millsaps for the sixth seed at next week's SAA Tournament with one game to play. The visiting Colonels fall to 17-5 overall and 10-3 and are in second place.

Centre's Chris Taylor made a pair of free throws with 34.2 seconds left in the game to put the Colonels up 58-54. Hendrix sophomore forward Luke Vance converted a three-point play with 22.2 seconds remaining to cut the lead to one. After a Centre turned the ball over trying to inbound it on Hendrix' end, junior forward Colton Primm posted up and scored inside with 12.9 seconds to give the Warriors the go-ahead basket. Taylor's drive to the basket fell short with Warrior guard Drew Nikolovski pulling down the rebound and fouled. The Colonel's rebound Nikolovski's  missed free throw, but their desperation three from half court at the buzzer was off the mark.

The Warriors led all of the first half and took a 30-26 lead into the break. The Colonels fought back and took a 49-42 lead with 9:42 left in the game. Hendrix answered with an 11-2 run, regaining a 54-52 lead at the 2:40 mark. Josh Karsner made a three and Taylor hit three free throws to give Centre the late four-point lead.

For the game, Hendrix shot 45 percent (24-of-53), 4-of-10 from outside and 7-of-11 at the free throw line. Centre shot 43 percent (20-of-47), 7-of-14 from three-point range and 11-of-21 at the free throw line. The Colonels also had a 37-26 rebound advantage.

Karsner led Centre with 11 points. Tyler Wesley had eight points and seven rebounds and Taylor finished with nine points.
