Volleyball Claims SAA Regular Season Title

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team captured the Southern Athletic Association regular season title on Sunday with a 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17 victory over Centre College at Grove Gymnasium. The Warriors finish the league schedule with a 12-2 record and move to 25-4 on the year to capture the school's first team title since joining the SAA in 2012.

Hendrix also earns the rite to host the SAA Championship Tournament beginning Nov. 7. The Warriors will be the top seed and face #8 Rhodes College in the opening round.

For the match, Hendrix hit .326 with 61 kills, six aces, 62 digs and eight blocks. The Colonels (11-16, 7-7) hit .178 with 40 kills, six aces, 52 digs and seven blocks.

Sophomore outside hitter MC Rogers paced the Warriors with 19 kills and 16 to go with three total blocks and two aces. Freshman outside Bradi Ryan connected on 14 kills and hit .393. Freshman right side Lauren Petrisin added 12 kills and three blocks and freshman middle blocker Sara Dyslin had 10 kills. Sophomore setting tandem Holyn Duyck and Allison Gaia combined for 50 of the Hendrix' 57 assists. Junior libero Felicia Beeman came up with 15 digs and served three aces. Sophomore Samantha Stockdale came off the bench to led the Orange & Black with four blocks.

Jessica Peak hit .500 and had 16 kills for Centre. Suzanne Asbury added 10 kills and Elizabeth Janszen had 35 assists. Beth Cecil recorded 13 digs and Erin McGrath added 10.

Hendrix will travel to St. Louis, Mo. next weekend for the Bears Invite. They will face #18 Millikin on Friday, then #5 Washington University and Transylvania on Saturday.
