Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hendrix Stumbles at BSC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team took a tough-luck loss in their final game of the regular season falling 2-0 to Southern Athletic Assoication rival Birmingham-Southern College on Saturday afternoon in Birmingham.

Jordan Rausch finished with six saves, but took the loss in net for the Warriors. Ansley Tomlin made just one save, but earned the shutout in goal for the Panthers.

In the first half, the Warriors played evenly with the Panthers, taking four shots while BSC fired off six. Hendrix suffered the misfortune of an own goal in the 21st minute that set them back 1-0. BSC's Chandler Wentz crossed a dangerous ball into the box where it glanced off a Hendrix defender and past Rausch for the score.

Hendrix pushed forward in an attempt to tie the game in the second half, but were the victim of a BSC counter-attack in the 49th minute. Nicole Newton scored off an assist from Devin McDonald, putting the home team ahead 2-0. The Warriors generated several opportunities in the second half, earning three corner kicks, but only had one clean shot on goal. Sydney Meyer ripped a shot that was parried away by Tomlin, squandering the team's only chance to score.

Hendrix will head to Danville, Ky. as they enter the SAA Tournament as the sixth seed, and will face third-seeded Sewanee - The University of the South on Friday, November 7 in the first round. The Warriors fell to Sewanee 4-2 earlier this season.
