DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College field hockey team fought tirelessly against top-seeded Centre College in the semifinal round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament on Saturday afternoon, but fell 1-0 to the hosting Colonels.

Garbyele Pochron made 19 saves for the Warriors and was helped out by Bridget Umble, who stepped in for a defensive save as well. Kirby Roberts played in goal for the Colonels, who combined for 10 saves as team.

The Hendrix side allowed an early goal, but played steadfast defense the rest of the way. The team applied constant pressure to the Centre defensive end, but the SAA's top seed just wouldn't crack. Hayley Barker netted a goal just 3:53 into the game to give the home team an early cushion, but the Warriors continued to fight throughout the entire 70 minutes.

The Warriors accumulated 11 penalty corners, and put 10 shots on goal but failed to convert on any of their opportunities. The squad's best chances came early in the second half. Centre received a green card and was forced to play down a man for two minutes. The Warriors pressured at the offensive end, but came out of the advantage without a score.

The final whistle sounded, giving Centre the 1-0 win and a trip to the SAA championship game where they will face Rhodes College in a rematch of last year's final. Hendrix ends their season with a 4-15 mark and will graduate three seniors. Erika Jasso, Lotte Kraaijenbrink, and Lauren Shklanko all suited up in the Orange and Black for the final time on Saturday.
