DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team lost to first place Centre College 71-55 in Southern Athletic Association play at Alumni Gymnasium Friday night.
With the loss, the Warriors fall to 10-14 overall and 4-9 in the league, tied for sixth place with Millsaps. The Colonels improve to 19-4 and 12-1 and will host the SAA Tournament next weekend as the top seed.
Hendrix takes on fifth-place Sewanee on the road on Sunday in the regular season finale and Millsaps will host second-place Oglethorpe.
Centre shot 52 percent (13-of-25) in the first half, while Hendrix shot 23.1 percent (6-of-26), allowing the home team to lead 33-14 at halftime. The Warriors outscored the Colonels 41-38 in the second half.
Overall, the Orange & Black shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the field, 2-of-8 from outside and 13-of-19 at the free throw line. The Colonels shot 51.9 percent (27-of-52) from the floor, 5-of-15 from three-point range and a perfect 12-of-12 at the stripe. Centre held a 34-30 edge on the glass.
