Warriors Take Down Panthers 77-69

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team defeated Birmingham-Southern College 77-69 in Southern Athletic Association play at Grove Gymnasium on Friday evening.

The Warriors (9-11, 3-6) led most of the first half and took a 41-37 lead into the break. The Panthers (9-11, 5-4) closed the deficit to 60-59 with 6:38 left to play, but Hendrix answered with 13- 5 run over the next five plus minutes to go up 73-64 with 1:12 remaining and control the game.

For the game, the Warriors shot 49.1 percent (27-of-55) from the field, 5-of-10 from three-point range and 18-of-30 at the line. BSC shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) overall, 4-of-10 from outside and 19-of-30 at the line. Hendrix held a 39-35 rebounding edge.

Sophomore point guard Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler led the Orange & Black with 17 points, going 4-of-6 from deep territory, and five assists. Senior center Jamie Tate recorded 10 points, 16 rebounds and four assists and freshman guard Taylor Neal had 16 points and a pair of blocks. Freshman forward Anna King came off the bench for 13 points and sophomore forward Katy Gallien scored nine. Senior forward Katie Cougrhan chipped in eight points and senior forward Kaitlin McNeill had two points, six boards, three assists and block.

Kelsey Brown paced the Panthers with 19 points and three assists. Elizabeth Bromirski had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Jasmynn Batts and Kayla Ford scored 10 points each.

Before the game, Hendrix honored their three seniors - Tate, Coughran and McNeill.

The Warriors will host Millsaps on Sunday in their final home game of the year.
