Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College field hockey team lost to Sewanee - The University of the South 3-2 on the road in the first Southern Athletic Association contest of the year on Sunday.
The Tigers (2-3, 1-0) took an early lead when Sarah Barry scored in the ninth minute, then went up 2-0 after a Carrie Anderson goal in the the 25th.
Senior forward
Morgan Fires cut the deficit to 2-1 on an assist from sophomore
Raychl Reger just before halftime. Anderson scored again the 51st minute on pass from Kat Mulligan.
The Warriors (1-6, 0-1) converted on a penalty corner in the 62nd minute when Reger, who scored a school record five goals in Saturday's win, found the cage again with an assist from senior midfielder
Lotte Kraaijenbrink.
For the game, Sewanee outshot Hendrix 25-8 and 14-4. The Warriors had an advantage in penalty corner opportunities 10-7, including seven in the second half.

Gabryele Pochron came up with nine saves for the Orange & Black. Freshmen defenders
Madi Reese and Bridge Umble each had a defensive stop.
Sewanee keeper Gabrielle Fignar recorded two saves.
Hendrix will take on conference rival Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn. on Saturday.
