Hendrix Takes Pair from CBC

Sophomore middle blocker Samantha Stockdale had 12 kills and only one error on Tuesday

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team swept a pair of matches from cross-town foe Central Baptist College at Grove Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The host Warriors (4-1) took the first match 25-10, 25-14, 25-16, then defeated the Lady Mustangs (0-2) 25-19, 25-6, 25-20 in the nightcap.

In the first match, Hendrix hit. 392 with 40 kills, nine aces, 35 digs and six blocks. CBC was held to hitting -.027 with just 17 kills, four aces, 26 digs and no blocks.

Freshman middle blocker Sara Dyslin paced the Orange & Black with nine kills and three aces. Sophomore middle Samantha Stockdale registered seven kills and no errors on nine attacks for a .778 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter MC Rogers had six kills and three blocks and freshman Bradi Ryan came up with five kills. Sophomore Grace Griffin led the Warriors at the net with four total blocks. Junior libero Jill Sikes had 12 digs and sophomore setter Marlee Matlock had a career-high 22 assists.

Tiffani Curtwright led the the Lady Mustangs with four kills and 13 assists. Peyton Cope had nine digs.

In the second match, Hendrix hit .337 with 41 kills, nine aces, 48 digs and four blocks. CBC had 14 kills while hitting .025. They also recorded four aces, 27 digs and two blocks.

Freshman right side Lauren Petrisin hit .500 with 10 kills and Rogers had eight kills. Dyslin added seven kills and Stockdale five. Freshman middle Hannah Tackett led the Warriors with three blocks. Sophomore libero Leila Matsumoto had 12 digs and Matlock assisted 18 points. Sophomore setter Allison Gaia had 14 assists and three aces.

Three players had three kills each for CBC. Curtwright came up with 11 assists and Cope had 10 digs.

Hendrix will travel to Sherman, Texas where they will compete in the Austin College Classic beginning on Friday.
