Vikings Hand Warriors First SAA Loss

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College volleyball team suffered their first Southern Athletic Association loss, falling to Berry College 25-22, 25-23, 25-13 at Grove Gymnasium Friday night.

The 24th-ranked Warriors' (16-7, 10-1) 10-match winning streak was snapped, but they remain in first place and need to win two of their last three matches a piece of the regular season title.

With the Warriors up 22-21 in the first set, the Vikings (17-5, 8-3) ended the set with four straight points. Berry built a 20-15 lead in the second frame and maintained at least a point lead throughout the rest of the set. The Vikings easily won the final set 25-13.

For the match, Hendrix hit .063 with 34 kills, three aces, 67 digs and four blocks. Berry hit .137 with 34 kills, five aces, 73 digs and 18 blocks.

Hendrix Notes
- Senior libero Felicia Beeman led the back row with 17 digs.
- Junior setter Allison Gaia recorded 16 assists and nine digs.
- Sophomore right side Lauren Petrisin had eight kills.
- MC Rogers and Sara Dyslin had six kills each.
- Sophomore middle blocker Hannah Tackett recorded a season-high two blocks in the final set.
- Junior outside hitter Katie Beard had two kills in the final set as well.
- Senior Jill Sikes came up with seven digs.

Berry Notes
- Jessica Gum, Christina Goforth and Katie O'Rourke had seven kills a piece.
- Goforth also had 20 digs, while libero Katie Truluck had 12.
- Setter Lauren Schmitz recorded 27 assists, 15 digs and eight blocks.
- Gum had 10 blocks and O'Rourke added eight.

Up Next
Hendrix will face SAA foe Oglethorpe University at home Saturday at noon, then step out of conference to face Austin College at 4 p.m.
