Warriors Edged by Panthers in Record-Setting Finale

CONWAY, Ark. - In their final game of the regular season, the Hendrix College women's basketball team fell 89-86 to Southern Athletic Association rival Birmingham-Southern College. The two teams combined to tie the NCAA Division III record for fouls in a game (68) and set a new NCAA Division III single-game record with a combined 99 free throw attempts.

Sara Dyslin rewrote a pair of Hendrix program records, setting new marks for free throw attempts and made free throws, going 17-for-22 from the line. The freshman led the Warriors with 35 points, tied for the third-highest scoring output in program history. She also finished with a career-high 19 rebounds, tying for the eighth most by a Warrior in a single game. 

Anna King finished with 22 points, including an 8-for-14 clip from the charity stripe. Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler added eight points and nine assists for the Warriors as well.

In the first half, Hendrix gained an 11-9 lead on a three-pointer from Estrella Flores and held onto it for the rest of the half. The squad extended their advantage to as much as eight points and went into halftime with a 42-35 lead over the Panthers.

The Warriors kept control of the game for the majority of the second frame, leading for more than 18 minutes of the second half. The visiting Panthers slowly chipped away at the Hendrix advantage before tying the game with 5:57 left at 76-76. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch, but the tide shifted for good on a three-point play from Ashley Curry, putting BSC ahead 84-81 with 2:27 remaining. The Warriors never regained the leafd from that point, falling 89-86.

Hendrix Notes
- Sara Dyslin's 35 points were the most scored by any player in the SAA this season. She added 19 rebounds to earn her 10th double-double of the season.
- The squad's 86 points tied the highest total points scored by the Warriors this season. 
- Kriesel-Bigler's nine assists were the third-highest total by a Warrior this season. The point guard posted games of 11 assists and 10 assists earlier this year.
- Hendrix outrebounded BSC 47-43 and scored 21 second-chance points on the day.

BSC Notes
- Ashley Curry finished with 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists to lead the Panthers to the victory.
- BSC's 89 points marked their highest offensive output this season, and the most scored by any team in an SAA contest this year.
- 13 different players scored for the Panthers, who put up 45 points off the bench.

Up Next
Hendrix finishes their regular season with a 12-13 overall record and a 7-7 mark in conference play. The team will travel to top-seeded Millsaps College for the SAA Tournament, earning the fourth seed and will face fifth-seeded Oglethorpe University in the SAA quarterfinals. The Warriors swept the Stormy Petrels in the regular season.
