CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College softball team fell to #24 Washington University 13-5 to finalize the Warrior Spring Fling on Saturday.
The Warriors (3-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when senior shortstop 
Michaela Larabee singled and was knocked in by freshman pitcher 
Autumn Martin's double. Martin scored on a base hit from senior right fielder 
Morgan Fires.
The Bears (4-2) took the lead in the top of the third on a three-run double from catcher Adrienne White. They tacked on four more runs on five hits in the fifth.
Hendrix cut the deficit to 7-5 in the bottom of the fifth. Sophomore second baseman 
Victoria Hughes reached on an error and moved to second on a Larabee base hit. Martin followed by driving in Hughes with a single up the middle. After a ground out, moving Larabee and Hughes up a base, junior third baseman 
Shelby Anderson drove a double into left center, clearing the bases.
Wash U. right fielder Janet Taylor hit a three-run homer over the fence in left field to make the game 10-5 in the top of the sixth. The Bears added three more runs in the seventh for the final score.
Hendrix Notes- Larabee recorded three hits and scored twice for the Warriors.
- Martin was 2-for-4 with two runs and a pair of RBI. The freshman has recorded a hit in all five games this season and is slugging .933.
- Anderson had two doubles and two RBI.
- Fires extended her hit streak to seven games, dating back to last season.
- Martin suffered her first loss in the circle, allowing five walks, three hits and three runs while fanning one in four innings. She is 2-1 on the year.
- Hendrix recorded nine hits in the game, including three doubles.
Washington U. Notes- The Bears registered 15 hits.
- White had two doubles and four RBI.
- Taylor knocked four on three hits.
- Kenzie James went 3-for-5 with three runs scored.
- Second baseman Paige Biles had a hit, two runs scored, two walks and two steals.
- Annie Pitkin (3-1) threw 4.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and striking out six.
Up Next- Hendrix will open Southern Athletic Association play with a four-game series at Rhodes College in Memphis starting Saturday.
