JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team saw their hopes of a conference title come to a halt on Saturday afternoon as they fell 59-41 to the top-seeded Millsaps College Majors in the semifinal round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament.
Katy Gallien and
Sara Dyslin each finished with 11 points to lead the Warriors.
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler chipped in with nine points and swiped a season-high four steals.
Anna King led the Orange and Black with nine total rebounds on the day.
In the first half, Hendrix jumped out to a 5-0 lead to begin the game, feeding Dyslin in the post for a layup followed by a transition three from Kriesel-Bigler. The Majors responded by going on a 19-4 run to take a 10-point lead halfway through the frame. Hendrix drew within six but could come no closer in the first half, and trailed 35-19 at the halftime break.
After halftime, the Warriors did their best to narrow the gap and pulled within 10 points with 16:14 remaining. That was as close as much as the Warriors could muster though, as the top-seeded Millsaps proved too much to handle. The Majors pulled away over the next 15 minutes of play and earned a 59-41 victory in front of their home crowd.
The Warriors' season comes to an end in the SAA semifinals with a 13-14 record. The team graduates
Kati Broberg, a four-year letterwinner.
