Warriors Top Gents in Record Performance

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team set the school and Southern Athletic Association record for goals in a game with a 29-0 win at Centenary College of Louisiana in their season opener Wednesday afternoon.

It was the second shutout in program history for fifth-year head coach Curt Foxx' team. The Warriors (1-0) blanked the Gents (0-1) last season 22-0 in Conway.

Sophomore attacker Robbie Borrello tied the school record with seven goals in the game. Ten different players recorded goals for the Orange & Black.

Hendrix led 7-0 after the first quarter and 16-0 at half. They five goals in the third and eight in the final quarter.

Hendrix Notes
- Five different Warriors recorded at least three goals. Borrello had seven and sophomore attacker Carson Boone came up with five.
- Junior midfielder Travis Rabun tied his career-high with four goals and picked up six ground balls.
- Sophomores Cody Eckes and Alex Ortenstone each scored three times. Ortenstone also won nine faceoffs on 14 attempts and had four ground balls.
- Junior Patrick Rogers and freshman Brian Jasper each netted two goals. Jasper set the pace by scoring 11 seconds into the game.
- Freshmen Jon McKenna and Garrett Brown and sophomore TK Shaffer each found the net once.
- Sophomore long-stick middie Graham Marcus picked up five ground balls. Borrello, Eckes, Ortenstone and sophomore Patrick Munn recorded four a piece.
- Christian Wheeler and Joe Takacs combined to earn the shutout in goal. Wheeler recorded three saves in the first half, while Takacs had two stops in the second.
- The Warriors took 70 shots, the third most in school history. Hendrix also won the ground ball battle 43-30 and went 15-of-17 on clear chances.
- The win was the third in three years over Centenary. The Warriors have outscored the Gents 74-4 in those three contests.

Centenary Notes
- The Gents managed just 14 shots, led by Dylan Sherman who took five go with seven bround balls.
- Garret Wick won six faceoffs and picked up six ground balls.
- Keeper Coulton Toups recorded 15 saves.

- Hendrix will host Southwestern University (Texas) on Saturday at noon at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
