JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to Southern Athletic Association rival Rhodes College on Wednesday, earning a 15-8 victory over SAA foe Millsaps College in Jackson on Saturday.
Carson Boone led the offense with nine points, scoring seven goals and dishing off a pair of assists.
Robbie Borrello and
Patrick Rogers each handed out three assists and Rogers added a goal.
TK Shaffer also netted a pair of scores for the Warriors.Â
Alex Ortenstone produced in all facets of the game, going 12-for-18 in the faceoff circle with eight ground balls, three goals and an assist.
Kevin Estell led the defense with three caused turnovers while
Thomas Adamo had two. Eight other Warriors each had one caused turnover on the day.
Christian Wheeler earned the win in goal, making eight saves and allowing five goals in 45:00 minutes of work between the sticks.
Joe Takacs also got 15:00 in frame, making four saves and allowing three goals.Â
The Orange and Black got off to a fast start, outscoring the Majors 4-0 in the first quarter. The squad scored again just nine seconds into the second quarter to make it 5-0. Hendrix did not allow a goal for the first 17:28 of the game before Millsaps cracked the seal with a score. The two teams traded goals before halftime and the Warriors went into the break with a 6-2 lead.
In the second half, Hendrix rattled off three goals in the first 3:15 of play. The Majors showed some resistance in the third quarter, going on a 3-1 run to make it 10-5, but Hendrix responded with five straight goals to close out the third frame, taking a 15-5 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Millsaps outscored the Warriors 3-0, but it wasn't enough to overcome the massive deficit, as the Orange and Black rolled to a 15-8 victory.
Hendrix Notes- Boone's seven goals mark the seventh-highest single-game scoring output in program history, and the forward's most goals against an SAA opponent.
- The Warriors scored nine goals in the third quarter, their most goals in one quarter against a conference opponent this season.

Travis Rabun scored one goal, extending his streak of at least one point per game to nine games, dating back to last season.
Millsaps Notes- Scott Budd scored three goals to lead the Majors in scoring.
- Riley McLean made 22 saves but allowed 15 goals to take the loss in net.
