DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College softball team lost both games of a Southern Athletic Association double-header to Centre College on the road Saturday afternoon. The host Colonels (7-1, 6-0) took game one 5-4, then defeated the Warriors (4-7, 1-3) 9-2 in the nightcap.
In game one, catcher Tori Silcox hit a two-run home run in the second to give Centre an early lead. Brittany Sears added an RBI double in the fifth to go up 3-0. Hendrix tied the game with three runs in the top of the sixth. Freshman catcher
Nikki Sanders led off by reaching on an error and junior third baseman
Shelby Anderson doubled her in. Freshman first baseman
Deva Bharne walked and another freshman, left fielder
Samantha Schaefer followed with a bases-clearing double to tie the game.
Second baseman Emma Ryder put the Colonels ahead in the bottom of the frame with a two-run double. In the top of the seventh, Anderson drew a walk and scored later on a ground out from senior right fielder
Morgan Fires for the final run of the game.
Junior
Kayla Patton (0-2) took the loss for the Warriors. Jessika Young (3-1) earned the win, despite allowing 10 hits and four walks.
In game two, the Colonels scored in the second, then had a two-run home run by Young in the third to go up 3-0. The Warriors cut the deficit to a run in the top of the sixth. With two outs, senior

Sydney Ozersky hit back to back singles and were plated by an Anderson base hit. Centre responded with six runs on five hits and two errors in the the bottom of the sixth.
Freshman
Bryanna Carlisle (2-1) suffered the loss and Erika Brewer (4-0) earned the victory.
Hendrix Notes
- Anderson extended her hitting streak to six games, the longest active streak on the team.
- Sanders had three hits on the day, as did Larabee, Bharne and sophomore second baseman
Victoria Hughes.
- The Warriors outhit the Colonels 10-8 in game one, but left 11 on base. They also left 13 on base in game two.
- Freshman center fielder
Madi Fires recorded her first collegiate hit in game two and also stole a base
Centre Notes
- Six different Colonels had two hits each in game two, with Young and Silcox driving in two each.
- Silcox managed four RBI on the day.
