MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team connected on five home runs on Wednesday afternoon, but Rhodes College still won both games of the Southern Athletic Association double-header 10-7 and 8-6.
In game one, the Lynx (5-15-1, 4-5-1) built a 6-0 lead through four innings, but the Warriors (5-12, 2-8) added three runs in the top of the fifth. Fresman

Madi Fires followed with her first career home-run. Sophomore second baseman
Victoria Hughes doubled, stole third and scored on a base hit by freshman first baseman
Deva Bharne.
Rhodes answered with four more runs in the fifth inning to go up 10-3. Freshman catcher
Nikki Sanders led the top of the sixth off with a sol home run and Fires singled and scored on another Hughes double to make the game 10-5. Hendrix scored two more times in the seventh on an error and a Martin sacrifice fly.
Caroline Reilly (2-8) got the win in the circle for the Lynx. Martin (2-4) took the loss for the Warriors. Junior
Kayla Patton threw two innings of perfect relief.
In game two, Rhodes scored three runs in the second, but Hendrix tied it up in the top of the third when Bharne walked, Martin doubled and junior third baseman
Shelby Anderson followed with a home run, her second of the season.
The Lynx added two more in the third and the fourth to regain a 7-3 advantage. Martin led the top of the fifth off with a solo home run, her second of the season. Anderson walked and Sanders blasted her fourth homer of thee year to cut the deficit to 7-6. Rhodes' Reilly had a RBI-double in the bottom of the fifth for the final run of the game.
Forrest Skelton (3-6) earned the win with Allison Long getting the save. Patton (1-4) suffered the defeat.
Hendrix Notes- The three home runs in the first game was tied for the second most in program history, second to the four hit in Tuesday's first game against Rhodes.
- The Orange & Black connected on nine home runs in the four-game series.
- Sanders moves her total to four homers on the year, tied for seventh most in a season for the Warriors.
- Sanders, from Sherwood, Ark., had a season-best three hits in game two and now has an eight-game hitting streak.
- Martin also had three hits in game two, including a home run and double, and five on the day.
- Hughes had five hits on the day, including a pair of doubles. She tied her career best with three hits in the opener
- Fires went 2-for-2 in the first game.
Rhodes Notes- The bottom of the order carried the Lynx in game one with 6-9 hitters going 8-for-12 with nine runs scored and four RBI.
- Right fielder Makenzie Martin had three hits with a pair of doubles and three RBI in game two.
- Center fielder Kristen Samuels had a pair of doubles and two runs scored in game two.
Up NextHendrix returns home to host Nebraska Wesleyan University at Warrior Field for a 1 p.m. double-header on Thursday.
