CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College softball team lost both games of a Southern Athletic Association double-header to Berry College at Warrior Field Saturday. The conference leading Vikings (25-6, 15-2) took the first game 5-1, then topped the Warriors (10-18, 4-10) 9-2.
Hendrix struck in the bottom of the first of the opener when senior shortstop
Michaela Larabee led off with a walk, was bunted over by freshman center fielder
Madi Fires and scored on a single to left center by junior third baseman
Shelby Anderson.
The game remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth when Berry plated five runs on five hits and an error. Catcher Kenzie Fleming had the big hit in the frame, a two-run single up the middle.
Berry hurler Kassie Howard (14-1) struck out eight and only allowed one hit, one run and a walk. Freshman
Autumn Martin (4-7) took the loss for Hendrix.
The Warriors once again had a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the nightcap. Anderson reached on an error, was bunted over by freshman first baseman
Nikki Sanders and later scored on an infield single by sophomore
Sydney Ozersky. The Vikings captured a 4-1 lead in the top of the third, but the Warriors made it 4-2 in the bottom of the same inning when Anderson drove in Martin with a double down the left field line.
An RBI-triple by right fielder Brittany Ferrell gave Berry a 5-2 advantage in the fourth. First baseman Marie Collop connected on a two-run homer over the left field fence in the fifth and the Vikings added two more in the sixth.
Hendrix had 10 hits in game two, but left six on base. Berry recorded 15 hits.
Allison Coronado (7-3) earned the win for the Vikings. Junior
Kayla Patton (2-7) received the loss.
Hendrix Notes- Larabee's run in the opener was the 100th of her career, moving her into a tie for third on the Warriors' all-time leaderboard.
- Anderson hit her 10th double of the season and 35th of her career. She now ranks fourth in career doubles.

Madi Fires went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in game two.
- Ozersky was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a double, her fourth of the season. She also stole a base.
Berry Notes- Left fielder Ally Claytor went 4-for-9 on the day with a double.
- Collop had four hits, including a double and home run, and four RBI in the two games.
- Ferrell had three hits and scored twice in game two.
