Imbro, Warriors Outduel Vikings

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team earned a 3-1 win on Sunday against Berry College as Daniel Imbro outdueled his Vikings' counterpart to earn the crucial conference win.

Imbro went 8.1 innings, scattering seven hits and striking out two. The only run he allowed was unearned and came in the top of the ninth. Cannon Schrank recorded an out in the final frame before giving way to Harley Faye who got the last out of the game and secured the save.

Drew Judson went 3-for-4 for the Warriors with a double and an RBI while Thomas Weber and Seth Mobley each finished with two hits apiece. Spencer Summers and Wyatt Hogan each went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

The Orange and Black jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Hogan led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Mobley and scored on an error by the Berry shortstop. Drew Judson then lifted a double to left-center, driving home Ryan Ritz to put the home team ahead 2-0.

The Warriors added an insurance run in the seventh, increasing their lead to 3-0. Summers led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Faye. Two batters later, Mobley singled up the middle to drive home Summers and give the Warriors a 3-0 advantage.

Imbro pitched into the ninth, allowing one baserunner on an error before recording an out. He was pulled after hitting a batter to put runners on first and second. Schrank came in to get the next out, walking a batter to load the bases and then forcing a sacrifice fly to center. Then came Faye, moving from second base to pitcher to close out the game. The closer allowed a single to load the bases again, but  recorded a game-saving strikeout to give Hendrix the 3-1 win.
