Baseball Season Comes to an End

JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College baseball season came to an end at the hands of #17 Millsaps College at the Southern Athletic Association Tournament on Saturday night. The host and second-seeded Majors (28-11) topped the Warriors (19-22) 7-2.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when the Majors scored a pair of runs on two hits. They added three more in the fifth inning and two in the eighth to go up 7-0. Hendrix scored two in the top of the ninth when sophomores Wyatt Hogan, Spencer Summers and Harley Faye loaded the bases with a walk, single and walk respectively. Senior pinch hitter John Pounds drew a bases loaded walk for the Orange & Black's first run of the game. Senior catcher Seth Mobley, plated Faye with a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Majors outhit the Warriors 11-5. Daniel Ross (3-2) earned the win for Millsaps with six strikeouts and giving up four hits and a walk in seven scoreless innings. Junior Kyle Teachout (2-4) took the loss for the Warriors.

The game marked the end of the career for nine Warriors - Thomas Weber, Ryan Ritz, John Pounds, Grant Nunn, Seth Mobley, Tim San Pablo, Matt Simmons, Brady Newville and Nick Land.

Hendrix Notes
- Mobley threw out three runners, giving him the school record with 48, passing assistant coach Andrew Thames' mark of 45.
- Faye had two hits for the Warriors.
- Simmons, Hogan and Summers each added a single.
- The Warriors broke the school record for ERA in a season for the third straight year. They finished with a 3.70 earned run average in 2015.

Millsaps Notes
- Catcher Joe Stearns had three hits, including a double, and drove in two.
- Center fielder Isaac Glenn was 3-for-3.
- Logan Patterson also knocked in two runs and William Chenowith scored twice.
