FERRUM, Va. - The Hendrix College field hockey lost 4-3 in double overtime at Ferrum College in Southern Athletic Association play Friday afternoon.
The game was only the fifth to reach double overtime for the Warriors (3-9, 1-4) in school history.
The host Panthers (3-9, 2-2) scored the first goal of the game in the 11th minute. Sophomore
Holly Heeb tied it up with eight minutes left in the half on a pass from senior
Raychl Reger.
Early in the second half, Reger found the cage unassisted followed by another goal off the stick of Heeb to make the game 3-1 with 28:40 left in regulation.
Ferrum's Alexandra Madden and Sierra Magdaleno scored in the final three minutes to force overtime. Haley Overstreet scored the game-winner with 6:54 remaining in the second OT.
The Panthers outshot the Warriors 30-12 overall and 25-8 on goal. Ferrum also led in penalty corners 22-8.
