CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's soccer team lost to Sewanee - The University of the South 3-2 in double overtime in Southern Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon.
The visiting Tigers (8-7-1, 5-1) found the net first on a Tasha Saunders goal in the 12th minute. The game remained 1-0 until the 59th minute when
Melissa Miller's free kick into the box was knocked in by freshman
Hagan Griffith after a touch by sophomore
Lucy Moore.
Sewanee went back up 2-1 in the 81st when Tyler Edell scored after a rebound of her own shot. The Warriors (10-6, 2-4) tied it again on another Griffith goal, which she put in on a rebound of Syndey Meyer's shot.
Hendrix outshot Sewanee 5-4 in the first overtime, but the Tigers won the game 2:01 into the second extra period when Erin Gill's pass found Savannah Williams for the score.
For the game, Sewanee outshot the Warriors 22-12 overall and 11-9 on goal. Both teams took six corner kicks.
