#25 Volleyball Ends Season in NCAA Second Round

RICHARDSON, Texas - The 25th-ranked Hendrix College volleyball team's 2016 season came to an end with a 20-25, 25-21, 20-25, 27-25, 12-15 loss at #4 University of Texas at Dallas Saturday evening.

The Warriors finish the season 25-8 under first-year head coach Angie Boldt. They captured their third consecutive Southern Athletic Association regular season and tournament titles and third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The Comets (32-2) led two sets to one, and had a 24-21 lead in the fourth. The Warriors fought off four match points to win 27-25 and force a deciding game.

The teams were tied at 6-6, but UTD went on a 5-0 run to take control of the set, eventually winning 15-12.

Hendrix hit .114 with 54 kills, five aces and season-highs of 123 digs and 19 blocks. UT Dallas hit .103 with 60 kills, eight aces, 133 digs and 13 blocks.

Hendrix Notes
- Junior middle blocker Sara Dyslin set a school record with 14 total blocks to go with nine kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Lauren Dwyer recorded a season-best 18 kills and 18 digs.
- Senior outside hitter MC Rogers came up with 17 kills, 19 digs and six blocks.
- Senior setter Allison Gaia posted 26 assists and 14 assists, while sophomore setter Amber Melcher recorded 15 assists and a career-high 19 digs.
- Senior Leila Matsumoto tallied a career-high 41 digs.

UT Dallas Notes
- Dylan Brinkman led the Comets with 19 kills and 33 digs to go with three aces and five blocks.
- Emma Wallbrown had 10 kills, as did Michelle Toro.
- Caroline Shecterle recorded 27 assists and 20 digs.
- Lauren Schlling came up with eight blocks.
- Abbie Barth and Briana Tully both had 26 digs.
