Warriors Fall to Hawks in Overtime

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team lost to NCAA Division II opponent Rockhurst University 7-6 in overtime on Crafton-Faulkner Field at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

It was the second overtime loss in as many games for the Warriors (0-2).

The visiting Hawks (1-0) led 3-2 at halftime. Both teams exchanged goals in the third quarter with Rockhurst leading 6-5 headed into the fourth. Senior midfielder Travis Rabun scored the only goal of the fourth quarter with 9:33 left to force the extra period.

The Hawks won the opening faceoff and held the ball until Mason Pomeroy scored on a pass from Michael Beckham with 3:43 on the clock.

RU outshot Hendrix 34-24 overall and 23-15 on goal. The Hawks also had a 37-20 advantage in ground balls and won faceoffs 12-4. Rockhurst converted 18-of-20 clear attempts, while the Warriors were 19-of-27.

Hendrix Notes
- Freshman midfielder Cole Cramer scored his first two goals of his career and picked up a pair of ground balls.
- Junior midfielder Alex Ortenstone also scored two goals.
- Rabun and freshman midfielder Joe Graves were responsible for Hendrix' other two goals.
- Senior attacker Zachary Baier recorded an assist.
- Freshman Dominic Dachille caused five turnovers, tied for the fourth most in school history.
- Senior defenseman Kevin Estell had three ground balls.
- Senior Joe Takacs was one off his career-high with 16 saves to go with three ground balls.

Rockhurst Notes
- Jake Martin led the Hawks with three goals and two assists.
- Beckham finished with a goal and four assists.
- Shea Radel and Collin Fischer also scored a goal each.
- Keeper Alex Pfeil recorded nine saves and six ground balls.

Hendrix will take on Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. next Saturday.
