Hendrix Picks Up First Win of Season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse won their first game of the year, defeating Huntingdon College 12-10 on the road Saturday.

The Warriors (1-1) and Hawks (0-1) traded leads back-and-forth in a high-scoring first half which was 8-7 in Hendrix' favor at the break. Huntingdon scored three of the first four goals int he second half to take a 10-9 lead. Hendrix answered with a trio of goals - one each by freshman Morgan Dasch and sophomores Kaitlyn Smith and Reilly Frazier to secure the 12-10 victory.

The Hawks outshout the Warriors 26-17 overall but only had a 19-17 edge in shots on goal. Huntingdon also had a 22-14 advantage in ground balls, but Hendrix won more draws, 14-10.

Hendrix Notes
- Smith, a midfielder, had a strong all-around game, scoring three times with an assist, four ground balls, seven draw controls and three caused turnovers. Her seven draws were tied for the sixth most in school history.
- Dasch also recorded three goals and an assist.
- Frazier scored two times with an assist and picked up two ground balls.
- Sophomore attacker Bridget Umble also had two goals and an assist.
- Junior midfielder Raychl Reger scored twice and won five draws.
- Junior midfielder Megahn Ayers added an assist.
- Junior defender Gabryele Pochron had three ground balls.
- Freshman keeper Alexis Truitt recorded six saves in the first half and Jesse Clark had three in the second.

Huntingdon Notes
- Lonnitira Keenan and Shannen O'Leary each had two goals and two assists.
- Jen Price and Jade Paul also had two goals each.
- Paul led the Hawks with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Price and Candace Williams won three draws each.
- Katie BIanco recorded only three saves
