IRVING, Texas - The Hendrix College softball team split their double-header with the University of Dallas at Crusader Field Sunday.
The Warriors (2-2) took the first game 2-1 in eight innings withe Lady Crusaders (1-1) winning game two 6-3.
In game one, UD scored in the bottom of the first on a RBI-single by catcher Stephanie Cervantes. Hendrix tied it up in the second when freshman first baseman
Dasha Donahoe reached on an error and later scored from third on a wild pitch. Freshman shortstop
Jamie Johnson walked, then sophomore center fielder
Madi Fires followed with a double, but Johnson was thrown out at the plate.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the eighth. Junior second baseman
Victoria Hughes started the frame on second base due to the international tiebreaker rule. Freshman right fielder
Savannah Draud laid down a sacrifice bunt that the UD pitcher threw away. Hughes tried to score but was thrown out by second baseman Samantha Laberge. Afterwards, the Lady Crusaders catcher throws the ball away trying to get Draud out at second and the error allows her to score the game-winning.
Laberge started out the bottom of the eighth on second, but was thrown out trying to steal by Warrior freshman backstop

Emily Stockalper got a strike out a ground ball to end the game.
Hendrix outhit Dallas 5-2 in the opener.
In game two, the Lady Crusaders jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a pair of runs in both the first and third. Right fielder Samantha Bratsch had a two-run single in the third.
The Warriors scored all three of their runs in the sixth. Fire led off with a walk. After the next two batters recorded outs, senior third baseman
Shelby Anderson walked followed by a run-scoring single from junior
Sydney Ozersky. Sewell followed with a two-run single to make the game 4-3.
UD tacked on two more runs in the sixth on RBI-singles from Alison Kotlar and Melanie Savla.
Hendrix Notes- Stockalper moved to 2-0 on the season by earning the win with five strikeouts and allowing two hits, a run and three walks in game one.
- Hughes swiped two bases in the opener. She went 2-for-3 in game two.
- Draud (0-1) took the loss in game two, allowing two runs, three walks and a hit with two strikeouts in the first inning.
Dallas Notes- Cervantes and shortstop Erin Begle had the Lady Crusaders' only hits in game one.
- Katie Lee (0-1) allowed five hits, two walks and three strikeouts in eight innings in the losing effort.
- Savala, Kotlar and Lyda Tesauro each recorded two hits in game two.
- Paige Parks (1-0) earned the win with four hits, three runs, three walks and three strikeouts in the nightcap.
Up NextHendrix will host the Warrior Spring Fling beginning Saturday against Washington University and Westminster College.
