JACKSON, Miss. - For the second time this season, the Hendrix College men's basketball team defeated Millsaps College - this time 69-62 Friday night at the Hangar Dome.
With one game in left in the regular season, the Warriors (4-20) are tied with the Majors (4-20) at for seventh place with a 3-10 record. Hendrix could be the seventh or the eighth seed in next weekend's SAA Tournament depending on their outcome against first place Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps' result against Rhodes on Sunday.
The game was back-and-forth early with five ties and two leads exchanged in the first half. The score was knotted at 30-30 at the break.
The Warriors opened the second half with a 15-4 run to take a 45-34 lead at the 13:02 mark. The Orange & Black expanded their lead to 54-38 at the 10:04 mark thanks to a barrage of three-pointers by freshmen
Luke Murphey and
Ryan Brady and junior
Travis Garrett.
The Majors began chipping away the lead and only trailed 57-54 with 3:50 left to play. Warrior forward
John Ogle hit back-to-back layups in extend the Hendrix advnatage back to seven points with 2:15 on the clock.
The Warriors secured the win thanks to a three-pointer and four free throws from senior guard
Drew Nikolovski in the final minute of the game.
Hendrix shot 47.2 percent (23-of-53) from the field, 12-of-28 from three-point range and 7-of-14 at the free throw line. Millsaps shot 51.1 percent (24-of-47) from the floor, but were 2-of-9 from outside and 12-of-17 at the stripe. The Warriors had a 32-27 advantage in rebounds.
Hendrix Notes- Garrett led the Warriors with 15 points off the bench, draining a trio of three-pointers.

Preston Smith scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Nikolovski finished with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Junior center
Gearen Littlefield recorded 10 points and block. He shot 5-of-6 from the floor.
- Junior guard
Bryce Parker added eight points.
- Ogle recorded six points and six boards.

Aaron Steele dished out four assists and had a pair of steals.
Millsaps Notes- Quinn Atkinson led the Majors with 21 points and three assists.
- Marc Robertson had 18 points, seven boards and two steals.
- Trent Markwith came off the bench for 11 points and six rebounds.
