CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College softball team ended the Warrior Spring Fling with an 8-7 walk-off win against Westminster College on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman third baseman
McKenzie Cresswell hit a single up the middle to end the game in dramatic fashion. The Warriors (3-5) were down 7-5 headed into the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore center fielder

Victoria Hughes reached on a bunt as well. After an

Shelby Anderson drew a walk to load the bases. Junior
Sydney Ozersky followed with a base hit to right, allowing Fires to score. Catcher
Karli Sewell reached on error on a line drive that allowed Hughes to tie the game. After the second out was made, Cresswell plated Anderson to win the game.
Hendrix took a 3-0 lead in the second. The Blue Jays (1-3) answered with two in the fourth then Erica Burney hit a three-run homer in the fifth to give them a 5-4 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Fires led off with a bunt single, was bunted over by Hughes and later scored on a base hit by Anderson to tie the game.
Westminster shortstop Caty Barrett hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh to make the game 7-5.
Stockalaper (3-2) earned the win in relief, allowing four hits, two runs, two walks and two strikeouts in three innings. Alyson Hahn (0-2) allowed 10 hits, four earned runs, a walk and three strikeouts in the loss.
In the first game, Hendrix lost to #8 Washington University 8-0. The Bears (4-0) outhit the Warriors 12-3.
Hendrix Notes- Against Westminster, Hendrix tied the school record with five sacrifice bunts.
- Ozersky went 3-for-3 for the Warriors with a run scored and RBI against the Blue Jays.
- Fires went 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the nightcap.
- Cresswell recorded another RBI in the second inning.
Washington Notes- Annie Pitkin (2-0) earned the win with 13 strikeouts, in a three-hit, two-walk shutout.
- Brooke Hofer went 3-for-4 with four driven in and a double.
- Kenzie James had two hits and two runs scored
- Janet Talyor had a double and a triple and drove in two.
Westminster Notes- Amber Tepen went 3-for-5 for the Blue Jays.
Kaylin Calton, Anne Baker and Leah Holthaus each had two hits.
Up NextHendrix opens Southern Athletic Association play at home Saturday with a double-header against Centre College.
