Anderson Blasts 3 Homers; Warriors Win Two

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Hendrix College softball team opened their six-game trip to The Spring Games at Legends Way Ballpark with a pair of wins on Tuesday.

The Warriors (12-12) defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio (9-8) 13-2 in five innings, then defeated NCAA Division II member Saint Michael's College (1-9) 4-1.

Against the Racers, Hendrix senior third baseman blasted three home runs for eight RBI and 12 total bases - all program records.

The Warriors started things with three runs on two hits and two errors in the top of the first. Junior designated player Sydney Ozersky recorded a RBI-single in the inning. UNO answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on a run-scoring double from first baseman Emily Rockman and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kelly Merkle.

Anderson hit her first home run of the day, a solo shot over the left field fence, in the top of the second to go up 4-2. In the fourth, junior shortstop Victoria Hughes led off with an infield single, then sophomore right fielder Bryanna Carlisle reached on error. Anderson followed with a three-run blast to center field. Sophomore first baseman Nikki Sanders singled and was ran for by Rebecca Maeder, who stole second. Maeder crossed the plate after consecutive ground balls.

Hendrix exploded for five runs in the fifth. Jamie Johnson reached on single, followed by Madi Fires getting hit by a pitch and a bun single from Hughes to loead the bases. Carlisle scored Johnson with a base hit to right field. Anderson then blasted a grand slam to center field - the first of her career.

Dasha Donahoe (4-3) earned the win for the Warriors by allowing six hits and two runs over four innings. Freshman Savannah Draud pitched a perfect fifth inning.
