Warriors Edged by Panthers 11-9

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team lost to Birmingham-Southern College 11-9 in Southern Athletic Association action at Warrior Field Saturday.

The Panthers (5-1, 2-1) jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first 12:26 of the game. The Warriors (2-4, 0-3) scored the next four in the final 10 minutes of the opening half. The Orange & Black had goals from Shelby Hill, Morgan Dasch, Katilyn Smith and two from Bridget Umble in the first period. BSC scored a goal right before halftime to make the game 7-5 at the break.

Hill scored her second goal of the game 1:21 into the second half to cut the Warrior deficit to 7-6. After another BSC goal, Umble found the net for the third time on a free-position, man-down opportunity with 20:26 left to make it 8-7.

BSC scored the next two goals to go up 10-7. Umble scored for the fourth time on an assist from freshman Jesse Clark with 14:47 to play. A little over two minutes later the Panthers scored again. Hendrix had the final goal with five seconds left when sophomore Reilly Frazier scored on a pass by junior Meghan Ayers.

The Warriors outshot the Panthers 31-22 and 24-18 on goal. Hendrix also had more ground balls - 27-22, but BSC won the draw controls 13-9.

Hendrix Notes
- Hill scored two goals and had four draw controls and three caused turnovers.
- Smith picked up six ground balls, a career-high and tied for the second most in school history.
- Umble's four goals gives her 22 on the season, the second-most in the country.
- Dasch now has 16 assists on the year, also second in the nation.
- Clark's assist was the first of her career. She also had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Ayers caused two turnovers as well. Junior Gabryele Pochron caused three.
- Freshman Alexis Truitt had seven saves in goal.

Birmingham-Southern Notes
- Natalie Daniel led the Panthers with three goals and four draw controls.
- Amanda Amerson had two goals and two assists.
- Alysa Gentyzel scored twice and had three draws and three ground balls.
- Shana O'Brien caused three turnovers.
- Chloe Massoni stopped 15 shots in goal.
