Crusaders Defeat Warriors in Overtime

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team lost 6-5 in overtime to Susquehanna University at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium Monday afternoon.

The Warriors (2-5) picked up the first goal of the game when freshman midfielder Cole Cramer ripped a shot from the right side of the cage in the first quarter. The Crusaders (4-1) picked up a pair of goals in the final minute of the first quarter.

Ten seconds into the second, sophomore Jason Blatt won the faceoff and scored to the game back up. Freshman Joe Graves put Hendrix up 3-2 on an assist from junior Patrick Munn with 6:18 left in the half.

Corrie Van Haasteren tied the game up for SU at the 11:58 mark of the third. Junior midfielder Alex Ortenstone scored with a second left in the third to give Hendrix the 4-3 lead. Ortenstone scored again 52 seconds into fourth to make the game 5-3.

Nick Reardon scored on a pass from Jack Donnelly at 11:01 left and Reardon assisted a power play goal by Chet McLaughlin with 1:19 left in regulation to tie it up.

Reardon scored the game-winner 1:55 into overtime.

Hendrix outshot Susquehanna 37-30 overall and 25-22 on goal. The Warriors had a 33-31 ground ball advantage and won faceoffs 8-6.

- Senior keeper Joe Takacs tied his season-high with 16 saves.
- Blatt won 8-of-14 faceoffs to go with his goal. He also caused a turnover.
- Freshman defenseman Dominic Dachille picked up a season-best six ground balls and caused two turnovers.
- Junior Graham Marcus had four ground balls and caused a turnover.
- Cramer, Dan D'Ostuni, Kevin Estell, Cullen Robinette and Thomas Adamo each caused a turnover.

Susquehanna Notes
- Keeper Dylan Abplanalp recorded 20 saves in goal.
- Reardon finished with three goals and an assist.
- Van Haasteren caused four turnovers with five ground balls.
- Kade McGregor had three caused turnovers and four ground balls
