BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College softball team lost both games of a Southern Athletic Association double-header at #6 Birmingham-Southern College Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers (33-6, 15-2), who are tied for first place, won the first game 2-0, before taking the second game from the Warriors (19-15, 8-9) 8-0 in five innings.
In the first game, Taylor Harkins (18-2) threw a one-hit, two-walk shutout with eight strikeouts. Freshman
Dasha Donahoe (6-5) took the loss allowing five hits and a run over three innings plus.
BSC scored both runs in the fourth with a two-run homer by second baseman Micaela Beck. The Panthers had a chance to score in the third by Warrior sophomore center fielder
Madi Fires threw a runner out at the plate to end the inning.
Harkins had a no-hitter until the top of the sixth when junior shortstop
Victoria Hughes led off with a single through the left side.
In game two, the Panthers scored three in the first, four in the third and ended the game in the fifth with another score.
Haley Crumpton (7-2) allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out five to earn the win. Freshman
Emily Stockalper (10-7) earned the loss.

Birmingham-Southern Notes- Left fielder Abby Spencer went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI in game two.
- Crumpton drove in two runs on a single and a double.
- Left fielder Catherin Coffey also had two hits in game two.
Up NextHendrix and BSC will play the regular season finale Sunday at noon.
