Hendrix Runs Away from Oglethorpe 15-8

ATLANTA - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team picked up their first Southern Athletic Association win of the season with a 15-8 victory at Oglethorpe University Saturday.

The Warriors (7-5, 1-4)  started the game with a 6-2 lead through the first 21 minutes. The Stormy Petrels (3-9, 0-3) scored the final four goals of the first period to make it 6-6 at half. 

Hendrix pulled away with nine consecutive goals in the second half before OU managed a pair of goals in the final two minutes.

The Warriors outshot the Petrels 29-21 overall and 23-16 on goal. Hendrix had a 18-14 advantage in ground balls and 15-10 lead in draw controls. OU led in caused turnovers 15-14.

Hendrix Notes
- Freshman Morgan Dasch paced the Warriors with four goals, two of which were on free-position shots. She now has 26 goals on the season.
- Sophomore attacker Bridget Umble recorded three goals.
- Sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Smith also scored a hat trick and had two ground balls and two draw controls.
- Junior Raychl Reger had two goals and an assist with four ground balls, four draws and three caused turnovers.
- Shelby Hill and Jesse Clark each came up with a goal, an assist and three ground balls. Clark also caused two turnovers while Hill caused one.
- Freshman Brooke Leahy also had a goal and caused a turnover.
- Sophomore midfielder Reilly Frazier caused three turnovers and had two ground balls and two draws.
- Freshman keeper Alexis Truitt had eight saves.

Oglethorpe Notes
- Juliana Altman led the Stormy Petrels with three goals an assist and five ground balls.
- Tate Davis had two goals and caused three turnovers.
- Sydney Sparks recorded a goal and an assist.
- Bailey Turner and Morgan McGhee both caused three turnovers.
- Cassie Andrews and Caroline Charmberlain added goals.
- Chantel Jones stopped eight shots in goal.

Hendrix will play their final regular season game at home next Saturday against Centre.
