COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team blasted three home runs en route to a 13-1, six-inning victory over Centre College in the first game of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament.
The fifth-seeded Warriors (20-16) outhit the fourth-seeded Colonels (16-22) 13-4 and took advantage of three errors.Â
In the top of the first, sophomore right fielder
Bryanna Carlisle reached on an error and senior third baseman
Shelby Anderson launched her 10th home run of the season over the left field fence to give Hendrix a 2-0 lead.Â
Centre scored their only run in the bottom of the first when shortstop Lauren Richards led off with a walk and later scored on a single by catcher Tori Silcox.
Carlisle led the top off the third off with a single up the middle, stole second and scored on an Anderson base hit to left, making the game 3-1.Â
Sophomore
Morgan Maida hit a grand slam over the left field fence to give the Warriors a 7-1 lead in the fifth.
Hendrix plated six runs in the top of the sixth to force the run rule. Freshman catcher
Karli Sewell hit a two-run homer to left center in the frame.
Freshman
Dasha Donahoe (7-6) earned the win in the circle, allowing three hits, one run and two walks over four innings. Freshman
Savannah Draud gave up a hit, a walk and struck out one in two innings of relief. Jessika Young (2-8) took the loss for the Colonels.
Hendrix Notes
- Anderson went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, four RBI and the home run. She added to her school record for homers in season and claimed the record for total bases with 85 this season.
- Sewell drove in two runs and had two hits, including her second home run of the season.
- Maida's grand slam was the first home run of her career.Â

Madi Fires went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Carlisle only had one hit, but scored three times, stole two bases and laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Centre Notes
- Right fielder Brittany Sears went 2-for-2 with a double.
- Silcox recorded an RBI single.
- Richards scored the only run.
- Center fielder Alisha Russell had the Colonels' only other hit.
