COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team staved off elimination at the Southern Athletic Association Tournament with a 4-2 victory against Millsaps College Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (21-17), the fifth seed, will now take on Rhodes College, the sixth seed, in another elimination game Saturday at 6 p.m. The Majors, the third seed, end their season 22-21.
Millsaps scored two runs in the top of the third on three hits and an error.
Hendrix scored all four of their runs on four hits and two errors in the fourth. Senior third baseman
Shelby Anderson led off by reaching on an error then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman catcher
Karli Sewell. Sophomore first baseman
Nikki Sanders singled to left, driving in Anderson. Freshman

Sydney Ozersky followed with singles to load the bases. Sophomore second baseman
Deva Bharne reached on error as well, allowing Sanders to score. A ground ball forced Johnson out at the plate, but the bases remained loaded for
Victoria Hughes, who drew a walk which plated
Madi Fires, who re-entered for Ozersky. Sophomore right fielder
Bryanna Carlisle drove in the final run with an infield single.
Freshman
Savannah Draud (3-1) earned the win for Hendrix, allowing three walks and striking out two in 4.1 scoreless innings of relief. Cassidy DeNoon (15-14) took the loss for Millsaps, allowing seven hits, four unearned runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

- Carlisle went 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI.
