CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team defeated the University of the Ozarks 8-3 at Warrior Field Tuesday night.
The Warriors (18-13) outhit the Eagles (10-14) 10-8 and took advantage of six errors.
Hendrix started the game with two runs in the first, sophomore second baseman
Drew Judson singled, stole second and moved to third on a base hit by junior left fielder
Wyatt Hogan. Freshman shortstop
Tanner Cooper reached on an error, but picked up the RBI when Judson scored. Sophomore designated hitter
Matthew Lillard followed with a base hit, plating Hogan.
Ozarks picked up a run in the top of the second when Patrick Clifford led off with a single and later scored from third on a grounder off the bat of shortstop Fielder Dufrene.
The Warriors made the game 4-1 with two outs in the second. Freshman third baseman
Jorge Leon singled, followed by another base hit from Judson. Hogan knocked in Leon with a single through the left side. On the same play, Judson crossed the plate after Hogan invoked a throw to second after taking a big turn.
The Eagles scored again in the fourth when right fielder Andrew Beck led off with an infield single and later scored on a base hit from Dufrene. Beck homered over the left field fence in the top of the fifth to make the score 4-3.
Hendrix added a pair of runs in the fifth when Judson led off with a base hit, moved to second on a Hogan ground out and scored on a Cooper single to right center. Cooper moved to second and scored on a Lillard base hit to right.
In the sixth, Hogan drove in Judson and freshman right fielder
Marshall Nichol with a double after a pair of Eagle errors kept the inning alive.

Cannon Schrank (3-1) earned the win, giving up seven hits, three runs and fanning three over five innings. Relievers
Kyle Teachout,
Brooks Billings and
Connor Nelson only allowed four runners on in four scoreless innings. Keaton Ramsey (0-2) took the loss for the Eagles, allowing eight hits, five earned runs and two strikeouts over 4.1 frames.
Hendrix Notes- Hogan went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double. He also extended his hitting streak to eight games.
- Judson was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a stolen base. He now has 15 multiple-hit games on the year.
- Lillard picked up a pair of hits and drove in two.
- Cooper had a hit, a walk, two RBI and a run scored.
- McAuley stole a base.
- Hendrix and Ozarks have split the season series so far with both teams winning their two games at home. They play one more time in Conway this year.
Ozarks Notes- Beck recorded two hits, including the home run and scored twice.
- Dufrene drove in two runs.
Up NextHendrix, the second place team in the Southern Athletic Association, will play at first place #6 Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama in a three-game series starting Saturday.
