SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College field hockey picked up their first win of the season Saturday, defeating Lindenwood University-Belleville 7-0 at the Sewanee Invitational.
The Warriors (1-2) broke a school record by taking 70 shots, 49 on goal, while the Lady Lynx (0-2) took just five shots and two on goal.
Sophomore
Holly Heeb started the scoring just 41 seconds into the game. Hendrix led 4-0 at halftime, then added three more goals in the second half.
Hendrix recorded 12 penalty corners, while LUB took one.
Hendrix Notes
- Heeb took a school record 27 shots, 20 on goal, and recorded two goals and an assist.
- Senior forward
Raychl Reger had two goals and an assist, breaking the school career record with 58 points. She moved passed Kelly Rappe' (2009-12) who had 54 points.
- Reger took 25 shots, the second most in school history.
- Freshmen
Grace Shapiro and
Mary Ingabire each scored a goal, as did junior
Bridget Umble.
- Senior keeper
Gabryele Pochron had one save in 48 minutes and sophomore
Alexis Truitt stopped a shot in 23 minutes.
