Atlanta, GA - The Hendrix College men's soccer team squared off with Oglethorpe this afternoon in the SAA Conference Tournament Quarterfinals game.
Hendrix, the #8 seed in the SAA tournament, entered the contest with a 3-15-1Â overall record and a 0-7 SAAÂ conference mark.
Oglethorpe won the regular season matchup 6-0.
The game got off to a slow start as the two teams played a game of "cat and mouse" in the opening minutes, with both teams playing conservatively.
Hendrix had the game's first goal in the 24' when
Jack Butler ripped a shot in the goal.
That would be their only goal of the game as they would fall 5-1.
"I am really proud of the guys and especially the seniors for competing today for 90 minutes," said Head Coach
Matt Kern. "We made it somewhat interesting in the first half by scoring the first goal, but Oglethorpe has some great attacking players and found a way to lead 2-1 at halftime. We wish our seniors well as they move on to bigger and better things!"
Hendrix's 2017 season now comes to an end.
They finish the season with a 3-16-1 overall record.
