Memphis, TN - The #7 seeded Hendrix College faced the #2 seeded Centre College in the SAA Conference Tournament Quarterfinals this afternoon, looking to improve to the Semifinals round. However, Centre had other plans as they took the lead early and eventually came away with a 5-1 win.
Centre would strike first at the 5:35 mark. The goal came after the Colonels controlled most of the possession early in the game.
The Warriors looked to respond quickly but didn't find the back of the net untilÂ
Romee Blokland got her first goal of the game in the second half. Unfortunately for HC this would be their only goal of the game and they would fall 5-1.
"Hendrix played great hockey today," said Head Coach
Rebecca Begley. "Seniors
Bridget Umble and
Rebecca Maeder ended their hockey careers playing their best game ever. Both dual sport athletes, will continue as Warriors in this spring as lacrosse and softball players respectably. I am super proud of them and the Warriors today."
With the loss Hendrix will end the season 4-11.Â
