Warriors Play Tough in a Major Way Against Centre

Mount Berry, GA - The #3 seeded Hendrix College volleyball team competed against the #6 seeded Colonels of Centre on Friday night, in a battle of the SAA Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. After a big non-conference win to end their regular season  last Tuesday the Warriors took the victory in a commanding way defeating the Colonels 3-1, (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 25-11).

The Warriors wasted no time in jumping out to an early lead. Hendrix played stellar defense, and hit extremely well on offense to take an early 9-5 lead in the opening set. The Colonels closed the gap to 9-7; however that was not going to be enough for CC. A kill by senior Lauren Petrisin gave Hendrix a 25-22 victory in set number one.

Set number two saw much of the same, as the Warriors came out to a 10-8 lead, forcing Centre to to call a timeout. Another 8-6 run had the Colonels calling their second timeout, hoping to stop the Warriors momentum.

Nothing could stop Hendrix on Friday night as the Warriors were hitting on all cylinders.

After taking set two 25-20, Hendrix would fall 25-23 in the third set. HC would come out on fire in set four to take a commanding 25-11, 3-1 win.

Defensively, Hendrix held Centre's offense in check. The Colonels best hitting average all night was the .135 percent they were able to muster in the first set. On the other side of the net, the Warriors best hitting set came in the fourth, when they connected on .353 percent of their attacks.

Senior Bradi Ryan (12), Petrisin (12), junior Brianna Kelly (11), and sophomore Lauren Dwyer (10) all finished Friday with double-digit kills, while senior Hannah Tackett added three of her own.

Freshman Jeanette McGrath continued her strong play, as she had two service aces. She also added seven assists.

Three different Warriors had double-digit digs as well, led by Dwyer who had a team high 25.

The Warriors will be back in action Saturday, when they take on the #2 seed in Birmingham Southern in the SAA Conference Semifinals. Game time is TBA.
