Conway, AR - The Hendrix College men's basketball team returned to action this afternoon in a non-conference match-up.
The Warriors looked to close out the 2017 calendar year with a victory over UT Dallas. The Warriors (1-9) lost two days before to UT Tyler 110-85.
The Warriors jumped out to an early 12-2 lead in the opening minutes, and would continue to keep the lead (19-7) at the 11:38 mark on a lay-up by
Trey Rouse.
The Warriors held the lead for the next six minutes, as they were up 26-16 at the five minute mark of the first half.
The Comets closed out the first half strong and would cut the HC lead to 36-28 going into the intermission.
The second half was a very closely contested back-and-forth affair, seeing a lead change as UT Dallas tried to dig their way back into the game.
The Warriors would take a three point lead back on a nice three-pointer by
Preston Smith to make the score 64-61, with under three minutes remaining in the game.
Both teams would make several defensive stops over the next few minutes, however with 42 second remaining in the game HC would have a 76-66 lead.Â
Kam Brasfield put the Warriors up 78-66 with a nice drive down the right-side of the lane, on a fast break lay-up.Â
UT Dallas would get one more bucket before the Warriors were able to hold on for the win.
"This was a great team win," said Head Coach
Thad McCracken. "We got great contributions from a lot of guys in both halves today and I'm proud of how they stepped up in big moments. This win really reaffirmed that positive momentum we have felt and we are excited to play again Tuesday afternoon."

Jacob Link, Brasfield, and
Sean Criswell all reached double-digits with 16, 13 and eleven respectively.
