Division II Rockhurst Defeats Hendrix

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team lost to Rockhurst University 15-7, a NCAA Division II program, on the road Friday night.

The Hawks (2-0) outscored the Warriors (0-2) 4-1 in the first quarter and 8-2 at half time. Hendrix scored four times in the third quarter, including three from sophomore attacker Drew Scanlan, to make the game 11-6 headed into the final period. RU scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter. Senior midfielder Alex Ortenstone scored the final goal of the game on an assist from sophomore Cole Cramer with 2:42 left.

For the game, Hendrix had seven goals, four assists, 31 shots, 15 on goal, 20 ground balls, won 12 faceoffs, 25 turnovers and eight caused turnovers. They were also 15-of-22 on clear attempts and 2-of-4 on extra-man chances.

Rockhurst had 15 goals, 10 assists, 62 shots, 37 on goal, 40 ground balls, won 13 faceoffs, 17 turnovers and 12 caused turnovers while going 20-of-23 on clears and 3-for-5 on power plays.

- Scanlan led the Warrior offense with three goals.
- Cramer had a goal, two assists and two ground balls.
- Ortenstone finished with a pair of goals and two caused turnovers.
- Freshman T. Michael Thomas also scored a goal.
- Senior midfielder Jason Blatt recorded an assist with two ground balls and seven faceoffs. Blatt also moved into second on the Warriors all-time ground balls list with 264.
- Senior long-stick middie Graham Marcus had an assist with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Senior Christian Wheeler registered 22 saves, tied four fourth most in school history.

- Luke VanOverbeke led the Hawks with four goals and three assists.
- Michael Beckham scored three times.
- Grant VanOverbeke registered four assists and four ground balls.
- Zach Bodeau had 11 ground balls and won 13 faceoffs.
- Jamison Boggio and Spencer Bright each recorded four saves in goals.

Hendrix will travel to St. Louis, Mo. on Sunday to face Maryville University, another Division II program.
